Conclusion of “My future project” to economically empower girls

The conference room of the University of Assiut witnessed the activities of the closing meeting of the project “My Future Project”, financed by the Spanish Agency for International Development (ISD) and the office of Plan International Spain and implemented by the “Assiut Program Unit” of Plan International Egypt.

In the presence of a group of vice-ministers and officials from the governorate of Assiout, and Robin Martin, representative of Plan International Spain.

It should be noted that the project was implemented in Assiut Governorate and targeted the center and town of Al-Qusiya in Assiut Governorate. The project continued for two years and started in April 2022 until June 2024.

The project was carried out in partnership with the Giving Without Borders association of the Assiut governorate and in cooperation with the Al-Huda association for the sponsorship of orphans and community development of Al-Qusiya.

The project also worked in coordination with the governorate of Assiut, the Directorate of Social Solidarity of the governorate and other relevant ministries, with the aim of supporting the government’s development efforts in light of the project plan and strategies plan.

This with the participation of partner agencies, notably the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency and the Governorate Youth Employment Agency.

The project adopted many methodologies, including capacity building of partner associations, partnerships between private, government and private sectors, exchange of experiences and community participation of young men and women.

The project aimed to improve the capacity of young women to create a business and obtain paid employment in an increasingly conducive environment for women’s economic participation in the governorate of Assiut through a set of interventions and activities such as economic empowerment skills, technical and vocational training and distribution of in-kind grants to beneficiary women and girls to start their own businesses.

The project targeted 414 women and girls, among whom 181 women and girls received in-kind grants including devices, equipment, raw materials and goods to create their own projects in Al-Qusiya community.

The projects included various fields, including trade, crafts, services and animal and poultry production, with capital of up to 17,000,000 pounds per project, for a total of approximately 2,800,000 pounds.

Types of projects implemented include dairy, sheep and goat rearing, poultry rearing, tailoring, bedsheets, furniture, garment making, looms, pastries, food and treats, conservation of frozen meat, educational tools and supports, sale of household appliances, food products, haberdashery, craft products, accessories, laundry detergent manufacturing, electronic marketing and the skills center.

Several exhibitions were organized at the level of the center of Al-Qusiya and the governorate of Assiut, under the patronage of Major General Essam Saad, Governor of Assiout, in order to support the marketing of the products of the project beneficiaries at the level of the center and governorate. .
