Saudi Arabia wins historic two gold medals at Asian Taekwondo Championship

Shooting – Donia Abu Talib, the first player of the Saudi Taekwondo team, won a gold medal at the 26th Asian Championship currently taking place in Vietnam at the Tien Son Palace gymnasium.

This is the first gold medal in the history of Saudi taekwondo at the Asian championship.

Donia Abu Talib won gold in the 53kg category after defeating players from the Indian, Philippine and Chinese Taipei national teams in her tournament.

In the final match, the Saudi player beat the Thai player two rounds to one.

Saudi player Riyad Al-Dhafri, in the 54 weight category, also won the second gold medal for Saudi Arabia by beating players from the Japanese, Thai and South Korean teams, before beating his Pakistani counterpart in of the last two rounds. A.

It is noteworthy that Donia Abu Talib made history by being the first Saudi player to qualify for the Olympics in taekwondo competitions and participate in Paris 2024, representing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. She also made it into the women’s top 10. players in the global game rankings.

Saudi national taekwondo team player Donia Abu Taleb recently entered the list of top ten female athletes in the world, where she ranked ninth, with a weight of (-53) kg.
