Sports Minister Congratulates Egyptian Paralympic Committee for Organizing African Single-Leg Football Championship

Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, said that Egypt’s hosting of the Africa Cup of Nations, a one-sided competition, reflects the commitment to promoting and supporting sport for people with special needs and to empower athletes with disabilities.

The minister added in a statement on Sunday: “At the Ministry of Youth and Sports, we express our joy and pride in organizing this important sporting event in Egypt, and we emphasize the importance of providing support and assistance to participating teams and to encourage the spirit of fair sporting competition.

The minister continued: “We express our solidarity and interdependence with our athletes, and we confirm that they benefit from all the support and encouragement to achieve the best results.”

The Minister of Youth and Sports also praised the efforts made by the Egyptian Paralympic Committee in organizing this tournament in an ideal manner and providing a suitable environment for the participating teams.

Dr Ashraf Sobhi deputed an official delegation from the Ministry of Youth and Sports – led by the head of the Central Administration for Sports Development, Dr Amr Haddad – to attend the opening of the Africa Cup Nations Football Championship, which was held in Cairo until May 27.

The opening ceremony took place at Al Salam Stadium, in the presence of Dr. Mahmoud Hussein, Chairman of the Youth and Sports Committee of the House of Representatives, George Schlachtenberger, Chairman of the International Unilateral Football Committee, Lionel Pinto, Chairman of the African Union Singles Football Committee, Mohamed Adel Hosni, Chairman of the Singles Football Committee, and Eng. Sherif El-Erian, Secretary General of the Olympic Committee, Dr Ashraf Al-Ajili, Board Member. of the Egyptian Paralympic Committee, representing Dr. Hossam El-Din Mostafa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Paralympic Committee, Amr Al-Sadiq, Executive Director of the Paralympic Committee, Sahar Abdel Haq, former member of the Board of Directors of the Football Association and the artist Ismail Farghaly.

The tournament sees the participation of 13 countries: Gambia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Algeria, Kenya, Morocco, Burundi, Ghana, Uganda, Angola, Nigeria, Tanzania and Liberia, in addition to Egypt, host of the tournament.

The first group includes Egypt, Nigeria and Burundi, while the second group includes Liberia, Morocco and Uganda. The third group includes Ghana, Kenya, Gambia and Algeria, while the fourth group includes Angola, Tanzania and Sierra Leone. matches are divided into three main stadiums: First Settlement Youth Development Centre, Petrosport and Aerosport.
