The Minister of International Cooperation discussed areas of joint cooperation with the OPEC Fund for International Development, highlighting the Egyptian government’s appreciation for the joint relations with the Fund that began in the 1970s and, over the decades, many joint cooperation programs have been implemented to support different areas of development.

Al-Mashat sought to strengthen technical support mechanisms with the OPEC Fund for International Development in many areas, notably in the context of the government’s implementation of the “Novi” program, the link between the projects of water, food and energy, which includes 9 constructive projects. in the areas of climate change mitigation and adaptation, highlighting that the opportunities available to strengthen cooperation between the Fund and other development partners such as the World Bank, the African Development Bank and the International Fund agricultural development, to provide the technical support necessary for the implementation of projects included in the water and food axes.

The Minister of International Cooperation highlighted the importance of these projects which would strengthen efforts to empower the private sector and encourage climate investments, in light of the huge financing gap that climate finance faces today. global scale.

On the other hand, the Minister of International Cooperation discussed, with the Director General of the OPEC Fund for International Development, the increase in joint efforts to empower the private sector by launching the financial and technical support platform “Hafiz” , launched by the ministry at the end of this year, which is an integrated platform to connect development partners and the services they provide. They are provided by the private sector.

The current development cooperation portfolio amounts to approximately $1.5 billion, which has promoted development in the areas of energy, financial services, agriculture, education, industry, health and other priority sectors.
