On Monday, Advisor Omar Marwan, Minister of Justice, issued a decision granting the undersecretary of the Ministry of Health of Beheira Governorate and 96 other people the status of judicial control officer, according to what was published in the Official Journal.

Criminal Procedure Law No. 150 of 1950 specifies the tasks and powers exercised by judicial police officers, when investigating crimes and their perpetrators and gathering evidence necessary for investigations and prosecutions.

The agents of the judicial authority are affiliated with the public prosecutor’s office and subject to its control in the exercise of their functions. The public prosecutor may request the competent authority to investigate any person who violates his duties or neglects his work, and he may request. that disciplinary proceedings be initiated against him. All this does not prevent him from initiating criminal proceedings.

The last paragraph of article 23 of the law provides that “it is permitted, by decision of the Minister of Justice, in agreement with the competent minister, to authorize certain agents to benefit from the status of judicial police officer with regard to offenses falling within the jurisdiction of the judicial police. falling within their competence and are related to the work of their employment.

Article 24 of the law stipulates that judicial officers must accept notifications and complaints they receive regarding crimes and forward them immediately to the public prosecutor, and that they and their subordinates must obtain all clarifications and carry out the necessary inspections to facilitate the investigation of the matter. the facts reported to them.
