Regarding the fasting of the first eight days of Dhul-Hijjah, His Eminence the former Mufti confirmed, in a statement of his fatwa via the official portal, that it is desirable to fast the first eight days of Dhul-Hijjah , not because fasting them is a Sunnah, but because it is desirable to do good deeds in general on these days, and fasting is one of the good deeds, even if the Prophet, that prayers and the peace of God be upon him and his family, did not narrate fasting specifically on those days, nor did he encourage fasting specifically on those days.
