The Toshka project is the largest of its kind in the agricultural recovery sector in the Middle East. In partnership with the National General Contracting and Supply Company and the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, infrastructure works were carried out, including the construction of canals, irrigation networks, electricity and roads, in cooperation with other national companies working in these areas. The Toshka project, considered one of the most important national projects in the agricultural field, has been rehabilitated and since January 2017, we have started to increase the efficiency and productivity of the project, thanks to the combined efforts of the parties involved. It has become one of our sources of pride in terms of good and diversified production, and 250,000 acres have been recovered in the Toshka project, 100,000 acres have been added in just 5 months of the current year 2023, which brings the total recovered. The institutional performance of the project is integrated after the power sector completed the establishment and operation of two mobile transformer stations (with a capacity of 60 megavolts each) to emergency operate the elevators at water from Toshka until the establishment of the permanent station is completed. transformation stations that are implemented to meet the needs of agricultural expansion programs in Toshka.

The government is striving to meet food security needs, through cooperation and coordination among relevant ministries, the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, the National Service Projects Agency and the relevant agencies. This is done by working to complete all elements related to efforts to increase land reclamation areas (such as in the Toshka region and other desert areas) and relying on agricultural methods adapted to the nature of the land and climate.

Nevertheless, the South Toshka Valley Development Project is one of the promising agricultural projects that is part of the state’s efforts to achieve sustainable development within the framework of the objectives of the “Egyptian Vision 2030”. The vision includes the preservation and development of available economic resources, emphasizing the critical importance of reclamation and expansion of desert lands and the establishment of new agricultural communities, as well as the expansion horizontal and desert land reclamation.
