Match Smouha vs Pyramids
Dr. Ahmed Al-Washahi, legal advisor to Pyramids FC, confirmed that the events that occurred during the club’s match against Smouha at the Alexandria Stadium are the responsibility of the team that owns the ground and the stadium, and that its legal responsibility here is an assumed responsibility that cannot be denied by proving that no mistake was made.
He added that what happened during the match is among the cases that require the team that owns the stadium to be considered defeated with a score of 2/0, and not among the cases of force majeure that lead to a repetition of the match, and therefore, according to the rules of the competition, the Smouha team should be considered defeated and the Pyramids Club should be considered the winner with a score of 2/Zero, stressing that the situation is quite clear and simple and does not contain any complexity, conflict or diligence and does not require any other explanation. The situation is a power outage and, according to the text of the regulations, it is not considered a compelling circumstance.
He stressed that the reason for the cancellation of the match was the poor lighting of the match as well as the power outage, and not force majeure circumstances, as one of the stadium’s lighting poles malfunctioned due to a power outage and, as a result, visibility in the stadium became impossible and “silhouettes” appeared due to the poor lighting.
The legal advisor stated that, based on the established facts, Club Pyramides officially requested that Club Smouha be considered defeated in the match and that the club be considered the winner with a score of 2/0 in accordance with paragraph three/A. of Article 42 of the Competition Regulations, which stipulates that in the event of a power outage for a period of “45” continuous or intermittent minutes in matches played under lights or in the event of poor lighting such that the match referee cannot finish the match. The team that owns the stadium is considered defeated with a score of 2-0, regardless of the result of the match, and a power outage is not considered a force majeure circumstance.
